The partial airplay comes amid a recent controversy around Roan stemming from an incident in São Paulo involving the stepdaughter of footballer Jorginho. Jorginho alleged that a security guard berated his 11-year-old stepdaughter, a Chappell Roan fan, after she spotted the singer at a hotel breakfast while Roan was in Brazil for Lollapalooza Brasil. Roan has said she “didn’t even see” the incident and that the guard was not employed by her; Jorginho’s wife Catherine Harding issued a statement noting the guard also wasn’t hotel staff. The dispute led to backlash against Roan and a temporary ban from a Rio festival, though later reports suggested bots may have amplified the controversy.
